eGFR (CKD-EPI)

eGFR Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate
Serum (SST) mL/min/1.73m²

About this test

Calculated estimate of kidney filtration capacity using the CKD-EPI equation incorporating creatinine (±cystatin C), age, and sex. Used to stage chronic kidney disease.

Reference Ranges

Sex Age Range Notes
All ≥ 18 yrs > 60 Adult; ≥60 considered adequate. Stages: G1 ≥90, G2 60–89, G3a 45–59, G3b 30–44, G4 15–29, G5 <15

Clinical Interpretation

Low / Decreased
Reduced eGFR — CKD stages G3–G5, AKI.
High / Increased
eGFR does not 'rise' as a pathological finding.
