About this test

Predominant immunoglobulin in mucosal secretions. Deficiency (most common primary immunodeficiency) is associated with coeliac disease and anaphylaxis to IgA-containing blood products.

Clinical Interpretation

Low / Decreased
IgA deficiency (<0.07 g/L) — selective IgA deficiency (most common), coeliac disease association. Total IgA must be checked before interpreting anti-tTG IgA.
High / Increased
Elevated — IgA myeloma, IgA nephropathy, liver disease, chronic infections.
