About this test

Most sensitive and specific first-line serological test for coeliac disease. Must always be interpreted alongside total serum IgA (false negative in IgA deficiency).

Clinical Interpretation

Low / Decreased
Negative — coeliac disease unlikely if on gluten-containing diet and no IgA deficiency.
High / Increased
Positive — highly suggestive of coeliac disease. If >10× ULN, duodenal biopsy may be deferred in adults per ESPGHAN criteria (children only by most guidelines).
