Clinical Interpretation

Low / Decreased
Thrombocytopaenia — ITP, drug-induced, marrow failure, DIC, hypersplenism, TTP/HUS, sepsis.
High / Increased
Thrombocytosis — reactive (infection, inflammation, iron deficiency, post-splenectomy), essential thrombocythaemia.
