About this test

Acute-phase protein that rises rapidly and to a greater degree than CRP in severe systemic inflammation. Chronic sustained elevation leads to AA amyloidosis (amyloid A) in joints and kidneys.

High / Increased
Bacterial infection, severe systemic inflammation, rheumatological disease, post-surgery, trauma. Sustained elevation — risk of AA amyloidosis (FMF, RA, JIA, IBD, chronic infection).
